Plenty of advice says you must report a new colour to the vehicle registration office within 30 days. That deadline comes from Article 78(2)(2) of the Road Traffic Act: the owner of a car registered in Poland has 30 days to notify the authority of a change "requiring a change of the data in the registration certificate". So the rule covers only what is printed in that certificate.
The regulation of 8 November 2024 lists every field of the Polish certificate by its code: plate number (A), owner and holder (C), make, type and model (D), VIN (E), weights, engine size and power, fuel, number of seats. Colour is not on the list, and it was not on the 2017 or 2022 templates either. You can confirm this on your own dowód by going through codes A to X. The CEPiK register lists 78 technical data items for a car, and colour is not one of them.
So a wrap or a respray changes nothing on your Polish papers. The fines in Article 140mb cover late registration (500 to 2,000 zł) and not reporting a sale (250 zł), with nothing for colour.

On Polish roads, though, it is Polish police who check the car. Article 132(1a)(7) lets Polish police retain a foreign registration document when there are reasons to believe the data in it do not match the facts. The document stays at the police unit for 7 days, and after that it is sent to the embassy or consulate of the country of registration (Article 132(5)). A silver car on UK plates, wrapped matte black, with "silver" on the V5C, fits that description.
If the car goes back home at the end of your stay, start with options that keep the main colour:

In a lease, the leasing company owns the car. Article 709¹⁰ of the Polish Civil Code says the lessee may not alter the leased item without the lessor's consent, unless the change follows from its intended use. If the lessee ignores a written warning and does not undo the change, the lessor may end the contract with immediate effect (Article 709¹¹).
Colour film can be removed before you hand the car back. For a car on finance, read the loan agreement. If the bank co-owns the car or holds it as security, ask the bank first.
For Polish policies, Article 815 of the Civil Code decides what you must tell the insurer. You disclose whatever it asked about before the contract, and if the policy says changes must be reported, you report them promptly. If you should have disclosed something and did not, the insurer is not liable for its consequences.
Check your application and the general terms (OWU). If colour or appearance is mentioned there, tell the insurer about the wrap, and ask whether the film counts towards the sum insured. For a policy from another country, check with that insurer. After the job you get a certificate of the work done, a photo record and a VAT invoice from us.

A full wrap usually takes 5–10 working days, a roof or bonnet usually one day. The final price follows an inspection, because it depends on body size, paint condition and how many parts come off.
